DEADHEAD -
Sarcófago is back with the release of the MCD Crust,
tell us a bit about this effort. Why such a big break happened
between the release of this album and The
Worst?
GERALD
INCUBUS - Crust was an experiment before the
recording of our new album, which will be released in the
beginning of 2001. About the break between The Worst and
Crust, that's due to our solo projects.
DH - What
kind of diversity you used on this MCD?
GI - New electronic experimentations on the
vocals.
DH - Your
debut album I.N.R.I.
was definitely a project of what happens now on Black/Death
Metal, and this album was re-released remastered. Do you think
this is necessary to keep on with your legacy?
GI -
In our opinion, I.N.R.I. is an old and classic release.
So we decided to re-release it with the following bonus tracks:
the songs from Warfare Noise I, and three tracks
recorded live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
DH - Who
came out with the cover idea of the remastered I.N.R.I.,
with the Sarcófago logo more defined?
GI -
We decided to use the original picture from the LP cover to show
that it was a remastered release, since the first printing of the
CD was released with a different picture. We used the original
picture from the album released in 1987.
DH - How
is the progress of the Sarcófago tribute? What is your roll in
the project?
GI -
We're leaving everything up to Cogumelo Records. We're very
pleased with the project so far. We'll take part on the final
selection of the bands.
DH - What
differences can be noticed between the original Sarcófago and
Sarcófago nowadays?
GI - Evey band evolves but Sarcófago didn't
worry about that. We always wanted to be the most radicals on
what we believe in.
DH - Have
Sarcófago ever had a problem with christians?
GI - Yes, we had problems with religious people,
because they can't see the reality about the massification of
religion, which we are against. Some of our covers were censored,
some of our CDs were retained in customs, that sort of things.
DH - Do
you think that the underground community is still important for
the band?
GI - Yes. Without the underground there wouldn't
be Sarcófago. We always gave a lot of value to the underground
scene and that's why we exist as a band until this very day.
DH - Is
there any idea the celebrate Sarcófago's 15th
anniversary in 2001?
GI -
Yeah, of course. We'll release a new album e and organize a great
show.
DH - What
could you tell us to promote the album Crust?
GI -
You gotta get this CD and listen to it, that's all I have to say.
